Practical mountain advice

What to wear for hiking in the Pyrenees

Mountain weather changes quickly. A simple layering system helps you adapt throughout the day.

Three useful layers

Start with a breathable base layer, add insulation, then carry a waterproof and windproof outer layer.

Legs and feet

Choose comfortable trousers or shorts and walking shoes suited to the terrain.

Sun, wind and cold

Bring sun protection, a hat and light gloves when conditions require them.

Keep a complete set in your pack

Even in summer, do not leave your warm or waterproof layer behind.
